A brave new world... these shoes are made for walking

In the last few weeks, Bridget has made the radical leap from crawling to walking, just like modern man emerging from the savanah, it has opened up a whole new world...she is late to walking relatively, but making up for lost time, really taking off... grandpa gets a kick out of watching her round the corner in the living room and take off down the hallway, giggling all the way. she is so curious about everything that walking down the path by our place can take awhile, every bird, stick, or squirrel deserves attention... can't accuse her of the unexamined life.

good weekend

On sunday, we went to a new restaurant in Hastings, one of our favorite river towns, or towns anywhere, nice, small, funky, artsy community, not as materialistic as many towns nearby...Juniper is a small "New American" restaurant, really good food (gourmet burgers, porchetta) in small space, with a recent favorable New York Times review they were overwhelmed, so service was slow... Bridget being in public ate it up, staring and smiling at everyone around, we left the place with her waving to everyone, and they in turn saying goodbye to Bridget, we might have her running for mayor of Hastings... we went to our favorite place in the region, Stone Barns, guaranteed good time, with Bridge on my back, toured the animals and showed her pigs, hens, sheep, etc. She got up close to some hefty pigs, these ladies must have tipped the scales at 400 lbs... we then headed to the courtyard and cafe, can't beat sitting in the sun with a cup of tea, looking at beautiful architecture (yes, stone barns).. Bridget was walking all over petting dogs, hugging children, dancing a jig and looking at everything... yes, good times.
